Travis Kelce is giving away Bitcoin.

The superstar tight end — who won a Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs last year — is teaming up with CashApp to give away $250,000 worth of the cryptocurrency. Kelce announced the #KickoffWithKelce sweepstakes on Twitter today:

The contest is sponsored by Square, Inc., a financial services company founded by businessman Jim McKelvey and Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey in 2009. In 2013, Square launched CashApp, a mobile payment app that allows users to transfer and send money electronically. Square bought $50 million worth of bitcoin (think of it as virtual cash) in Oct. 2020, according to CNN. Now, it’s giving bitcoin to you.

The rules are simple. To enter the Sweepstakes, eligible individuals must (1) reply to the post on either Twitter (from @tkelce) or Instagram (@killatrav) promoting the Sweepstakes and (2) include both the designated hashtag (#KickoffWithKelce) and their cashtag in their reply. Anyone who tweets out their CashApp name and the hashtag #KickoffWithKelce has a chance to win. You must have a CashApp account and a Twitter or Instagram account to participate. No purchase necessary.

CashApp adds: “The Sweepstakes is open only to legal residents of any of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia who are at least eighteen (18) years of age and the age of majority in their state of residence on the date of entry and who have a Cash App account.” Employees, officers, directors, members, managers, agents, and representatives and family members of Square or its affiliates may not participate.

If you don’t already have a Cash App Account, visit http://www.cash.app or visit your App Store and download it. The app is free, as are Twitter and Instagram. But Square has an important caveat: the sponsor may disqualify entries if the entry and related tag includes “inappropriate, offensive, or other derogatory language or information”. Twitter/Instagram accounts with “protected” or “private” settings will not be eligible.

The contest officially launched today, on the first day (or “kickoff”) of the 2021 NFL season. And it lasts all month. The “Sweepstakes Period” begins at 9:00 AM Pacific Standard Time (“PST”) on September 9, 2021 and ends at 11:59 PM PST on September 30, 2021. A full overview of the terms and conditions is available here.

UPDATE (Sept. 12 2021): Today, as the Chiefs season kicked off at Arrowhead, Kelce had a big game. With 6 receptions for 76 yards, Kelce picked up two touchdowns, including this 11-yard dive into the end zone during the third quarter:

He followed that up with a dramatic fourth-quarter catch that gave the Chiefs the lead:

The Chiefs went on to win a nail-biter today, besting the Browns 33-29.
